John’s involvement with local music began as a member of Cleethorpes Boys’ Choir and he recalls the occasional joint concerts with The Orpheus under the direction of George Cave.
On leaving school, John worked away from the area for many years, most of which were in London. He sang with various choral societies, played the organ at Westminster Central Hall and devoted his Saturday mornings to teaching piano.
Since returning to his home town he has been a member of the Grimsby Bach Choir and has played piano for many groups including the Operatic Society, as well as being a familiar figure in many churches, playing the organ.
He is a keen outdoor bowls player and looks forward to the return of ‘good times’ at Blundell Park.
